An anonymous donor has come to the table to support the development of the Child Advocacy Centre of Kelowna .
They have issued a $200,000 matching opportunity for the month of June to support the Child Advocacy Centre of Kelowna!
The donor, who calls Kelowna home, had this to say, “We believe in making a difference in those communities where we live and work, that’s why we get involved. This project is close to our hearts because it’s about improving the lives of kids right here in our backyard. We have been watching this project unfold over the last year and we want to help see it through. We hope offering this match can rally the community to learn about the project and do what they can to help.”
The CAC is the primary project of the Kelowna Foundation for Hope & Social Innovation who is spear-heading the $6 million campaign to bring the project to life in Kelowna. Once operational the CAC will be a child friendly centre dedicated to supporting children and families impacted by abuse. The Centre is a collaborative partnership between the RCMP, Interior Health and the Ministry of Child and Family Development with the support of Kelowna Foundation.
“We are a small team working hard to bring this long-awaited project to life in Kelowna,” says “KF” Executive Director, Ginny Becker. “For a donor to step up in such a big way is a huge lift for this fund-raising initiative. What better time to donate than when every single dollar becomes two? This centre will fundamentally change the way our system responds to children who experienced abuse and neglect, it’s long overdue. We are so excited about this match and the power it has to double each and every person’s gift.”
