Project Literacy Kelowna is bringing back its Raise-a-Reader Pancake Breakfast.
The event, Thursday morning, raises money for a number of community programs that help children and adults develop literacy skills.
Executive Director Christine McWIllis says it’s helped countless people in the community, including a newcomer who used to feel isolated and even got lost in a grocery store once, because she didn't know English.
“In working with us for a couple of years she was able to feel more confident to engage in conversation with people and just recently she passed her drivers test which has given her so much more freedom and ability to just be part of the Kelowna community.”
$5 gets you a pancake breakfast with all proceeds going to Project Literacy. Last year, $35,000 was raised.
The event goes on September 21 from 7:30 to at the Daily Courier, located at 550 Doyle Avenue.
