A group of Okanagan 3-D printer enthusiasts will supply Kelowna General Hospital with face shields for its front line care workers.
With a global shortage, West Kelowna's Dallas Rodier wanted to step up. "I've actually had my design approved by Interior Health to be used in hospital. So, local makers will be producing the parts to make face shields directly for the hospitals in the area."
So how does it work?
"The shield's clear material is already pre-cut, so it's going to get delivered to the hospital," Rodier said. "So all they have to do is unpackage the shields, sanitize them and then take our part that we're printing and it will slide directly into the mount and then the wearer can go and do their job."
Interior Health has already purchased two thousand of them.
