The province is helping fund 40 new temporary shelter spaces this winter in West Kelowna.
The spaces, to be located at the Westbank United Church, will be open 24/7. Guests will also have access to laundry and showers, and have a chance to meet with representatives from health and social services.
The facility, in partnership with the City and West Kelowna Shelter Society, is expected to be open in time for Christmas.
There are 4 other shelters in the region - Kelowna's Gospel Mission, NOW Canada's shelter for women and children, Cornestone, and Inn From The Cold - for a total of over 200 beds.
