The 7th annual Thanksgiving Food Drive, ended this past Saturday, by taking in thousands of pounds of food for the Central Okanagan Community Food Bank.
Food Bank Executive Director Lenetta Parry says it was a tough summer - typically they bring in about 200,000 pounds, but this year it was only half that amount.
She says thankfully, the community stepped up and made the annual food drive a big success.
"They came together, they rallied, and they filled those bags and dropped off food, and visited us at the grocery store locations, and we were able to bring in nearly 100,000 pounds of food in one day. It's so heartwarming seeing that generosity so we can help our neighbours in need," she says.
Parry says if you missed the food drive - donations can be made directly at the food bank's locations in Kelowna and West Kelowna, at participating grocery stores, and online at cofoodbank.com.
