There won't be a ban on single use plastics through the Central Okanagan any time soon. But, the Regional District has a plan for a study.
Budget was approved last month in the solid waste management plan to fund a review of what a ban might look like.
Spokesperson Jodie Foster says, "It's a difficult process to determine the scope. Do you just mean plastic bags at retail stores or do you include straws, cups, take-away containers and more?"
Foster says once any ban is imposed, it takes more than a year to roll it out with all the affected businesses. Foster says regional districts throughout the Okanagan are taking a look at what needs to be done.
