We've heard doom and gloom stories about local businesses on the brink of shutting down due to COVID-19.
One of them isn't Olive & Elle Boutique on Pandosy.
Owner Linda Povarchook says sales are actually up, not down.
"People are just paying more attention to their community. Maybe that is going to happen out of this? We had a customer come in yesterday to pick up some stuff and she said we've made a conscious effort, even our clothes and our kid's clothes, we are making sure we are buying Canadian now."
Povarchook is optimistic about the Christmas shopping season and is already planning creative ways for clients to visit her store in bubbles.
Her store was closed for exactly two months during the height of the pandemic.
"Our on-line sales just took off like crazy and normally we don't have a lot of on-line sales. Once we re-opened, the flood gates opened," Povarchook added.
