Retail marijuana stores are excited about the changing market, now that edibles and other new products have been legalized.
Harrison Stoker is Vice President Marketing for the Hobo Recrational Cannabis store on Springfield Road in Kelowna.
He says, "We think it's going to bring new consumers out of the woodwork. Specifically around edibles and infused beverages. Something that doesn't require smoking, something with a level of approachablity that's a little softer than a pre-role, dried flower or vapourizers."
Among the edibles coming soon will be pot infused chocolate and Stoker believes it'll be a big seller.
Mid December is when retailers expect the new products to be on their shelves.
As for vapourizers, Stoker says the responsiblity for safety lies with Health Canada.
He believes that any product approved for sale in retail cannabis stores will not have the issues that we've seen in the United States. Stoker says in the U.S., vapourizers are unregulated.
Like most Canadians, he is concerned about illness and even death caused by vaping.
