Despite two consecutive summers of significant wildfires, the message of extinguishing unattended campfires is falling on deaf ears.
The BC Wildfire Service says over the BC Day long weekend, 32 campfires were left unattended before fire wardens extinguished them.
Anyone who leaves a campfire unattended for any length of time may be issued a ticket for $1,150 dollars.
Since April 1st, the BC Wildfire Service has responded to 118 wildfires in the Kamloops Fire Centre with 92 suspected to be human-caused.
