1 person has been pronounced dead following a 3-vehicle collision on Highway 1, just 40 kilometers outside of Revelstoke, B.C.
RCMP responded Wednesday morning at approximately 11:25 AM to secure the scene.
In addition to the one casualty, two other passengers were sent to hospitals in Salmon Arm and Kamloops to be treated for critical and serious injuries.
The collision is currently under investigation. Initial reports suggest a west bound vehicle crossed over the centre line and collided with an east bound vehicle, and a second east bound vehicle was caught in the collision. The west bound driver was the one pronounced dead at the scene.
The highway was shut down for four hours following the accident.
Collisions such as this have become an all-too common occurrence in the last few weeks, as dropping temperatures and increased snowfall have made for dangerous driving conditions along the highways surrounding the Okanagan. Drivers are being encouraged to slow down, increase following distances, and take their time while driving, or delay their travel plans entirely if possible until conditions improve.
