57-year-old Kevin Costin of Kelowna, charged in the death of his wife, will appear in court next month for a preliminary hearing.
Back in November of 2015, emergency crews responded to a fire on Boucherie Road in West Kelowna.
It was there that the body of 37-year-old Hazel Budiongan, Costin’s wife, was discovered. Police deemed both the fire and Budiongan’s death to be suspicious.
An 18-month police investigation was launched, which culminated in Costin’s arrest in May of 2017.
Costin was formally charged with murder, arson, and indignity to a dead body, and has remained in police custody since his arrest.
He made a brief appearance in court via video conference Monday afternoon, and will appear in person for his next appearance on Thursday, June 14th.
Approximately 17 witnesses, including police and firemen, are expected to testify when the trial gets underway.
