Opponents of a proposed supportive housing facility in Kelowna have retained legal counsel.
The Ambrosi Neighbourhood Association has hired Benson Law to formally raise their concerns with Kelowna City Hall.
BC Housing is seeking approval from the city to build the facility at 2025 Agassiz Road near the Orchard Park shopping centre. The complex would provide 52 units of housing for the homeless with 24/7 on-site support services.
In December, neighbours of the project staged a protest in front of Kelowna City Hall, saying the development posed a safety and security risk to seniors living in the area.
Dave Bradshaw helped to organize the protest, but feels their chants fell on deaf ears.
"We tried on numerous occasions to talk with them and the provincial societies" said Bradshaw. "We've felt that we've been talked down to, in a very condescending way, so we thought we had no other choice but to retain counsel.
They're now threatening legal action if council approves a rezoning application that would green light construction of the project.
