At approximately 10:50 a.m. today, a Convair aircraft advised Kelowna International Airport (YLW) air traffic control that they had a mechanical issue and were diverting to Kelowna.
Two crew members were aboard the flight en route to Prince Rupert.
Airport Director Sam Samaddar told AM1150 the plane was carrying cargo.
As a safety precaution, emergency response teams were dispatched for the standby.
"We have protocols based on size of aircraft, so we did have the RCMP here, we had KFD (Kelowna Fire Department) and we also had B.C Ambulance service attend," said Samaddra.
The aircraft landed safely at approximately 11:20 a.m.
There was no disruption to scheduled flight service at YLW.
