This past week the World Airline Ski Championships were held in Kitzbuhel, Austria. It's an event that allows close to 500 airline employees from around the world to compete in slalom, giant slalom and ski-cross events.
The staff at Big White Ski Resort made their case to host the event in the future via Skype, and were successful. Senior Vice-President at the resort, Michael J. Ballingall says it'll be "Airline employees having the best time on the best snow in the Okanagan Valley. We are very very proud of that." Ballingall says the competition was fierce to host the event, "We beat out America, we beat out Europe and we brought the gold home to Canada."
The 2020 World Airline Ski Championships at Big White will be held over a 5 day span in March.
