The man who allegedly robbed a downtown Kelowna bank in broad daylight on Monday afternoon has been arrested.
At 12:15 PM, employees of the Scotiabank on Bernard Avenue reported a man walking in and demanding money from a bank teller, before running away with the stolen cash.
RCMP responded to the incident, and were able to identify the suspect as a 31-year-old Kelowna man thanks to security footage.
Just hours later, at 1:10 AM on Tuesday, RCMP were able to locate the suspect.
“RCMP general duty officers responded to a call of a disturbance in the 600 block of Lequime Road in Kelowna,” says Corporal Jesse O’Donaghey. “Upon arrival, they were able to immediately recognize the subject of that complaint as their robbery suspect.”
The man was then taken into police custody without incident.
He will not be named publicly until he is formally charged during his first court appearance on Tuesday afternoon.
