Shortly before 1:00 am this morning the Kelowna Regional Dispatch Centre received reports of a fire at the Kelowna Landfill.
The first arriving officer reports a 50ft X 75ft fire in the landfill with 3 to 4 ft flames.
Landfill staff and Firefighters worked together to extinguish the fire.
There were no injuries to firefighters or the public.
The cause of the fire is unknown but not suspicious.
The Kelowna Fire Department responded with 3 engines, 1 water tender, a deputy chief and a command unit including 14 fire personnel. The Salvation Army, BCAS, 1 piece of heavy equipment and a water tender from the Landfill also assisted.
