Colder temperatures and light rain didn't stop around fifty protesters from gathering outside the office of Kelowna-Lake Country MP Stephen Fuhr to protest the Kinder Morgan pipeline expansion on Friday.
Korry Zepick, a volunteer from LeadNow who lead the protest, says the expansion could have significant environmental consequences.
"We as Canadians will have been responsible for providing 30 percent of the world's allowable carbon limit. This pipeline makes that possible." Says Zepick. "If this and the Keystone XL both go through, that seems highly probable."
A letter, as well as a water sample from Burrard Inlet, where the expansion could hit the docks, were delivered to Fuhr's office ahead of the protest.
Stephen Fuhr was unable to meet with protesters face-to-face, as he was reportedly in Ottawa at the time.
Protests have been going on all over BC against the expansion in recent weeks, with over a hundred arrests, including Federal Green Party Leader Elizabeth May as of Friday afternoon.
