On Friday, at 1:15 p.m., a mother and her nineteen year old daughter visiting from Chilliwack, BC, were assaulted by a man while using the public washroom.
An unknown man barged into the washroom, yelling, and began banging the stalls.
The man was able to gain entry into the daughter’s stall, punching her several times.
Mother and daughter were able to escape the washroom, and call for help.
The man then ran out of the washroom.
A citizen had overheard the commotion and seeing the man running out of the washroom, tackled him to the ground.
With assistance from others in the area, the man in his late 20’s was successfully taken into custody by Police.
The daughter sustained minor injuries.
The man was held in custody, and charges of assault are being recommended to the BC Prosecution Service.
