New details have been released about an affordable housing project in Kelowna.
Back in November, the provincial government announced $18.4-million would be spent on four affordable housing projects in Kelowna, with one of those being a 20-unit building on Drysdale Boulevard, behind Dr. Knox Middle School in Glenmore.
Today, the province has clarified that construction is getting set to start later this year, with a planned finishing date of Fall 2018.
The complex will be made up of two and three bedroom townhouses, and will be built on 2.4 million dollars of provincial funding, with a $750,000 land contribution from the city.
When the funding was originally announced, the province said it was going to issue a request for expressions of interest for a local non-profit to operate the housing.
However, the province now says it's moving to a request for proposals to hire non-profits to do all three phases - the design, the building, and the operation of the building.
The other three projects promised last year were 42 units on Highway 33, 22 units on Fuller Avenue, and 47 units at the Apple Valley Building on Benvoulin Court.
