Pandemic or not, wildfire season is approaching, and BC Wildfire Crews have started prep work.
In more normal years, a boot camp in Merrit is where recruits would train.
BC Wildfire Service's Forrest Tower says, "With that not going ahead the training has to be a little different. We have some virtual training that they're going through, or small group training, for some of the positions like crew leader and positions that we do still have to go ahead with in training for certification."
Tower told AM1150 News crews are also planning to respond to fires with mitigation measures in place, like minimizing the number of people in trucks.
