Despite all the controversy of where it would be located and at what cost, the new Kelowna Tourism Centre has been a huge success.
CEO Lisanne Ballantyne says the number of visitors since they opened their doors in late June are staggering.
"In our first month of operation, our daily average visitor count, the number of people coming through on average per day was about 765 people. Compared to the old location (Harvey) we would see about 100 people a day on average."
Ballantyne says tourism in Kelowna generates in the neighbourhood of 1.25 billion dollars annually to the local economy.
