Bike to Work Week returns to Kelowna starting Monday, May 28th to encourage people to use their bikes as everyday transportation instead of their cars.
“It’s just a free community event that’s supposed to be fun for everybody,” says event co-ordinator Andrea Mackintosh.
Last year, over 44,000 participants took part in the event in communities across BC, over double the number from five years ago.
At the end of the week, prizes such as the “Endurance Award” will be going out to participants who have ridden the most kilometers.
There’s also a kickoff breakfast on Monday from 6:30 AM to 9:00 AM, with Mayor Colin Basran riding in on his bike to launch the event.
