BNA Brewing Company has secured the city's approval for its plans to build a bowling alley.
At its last public hearing, council supported the bar's application to update its liquor license.
Planner Terry Barton described the expansion to the second floor.
"The property's proposal is to expand into the former Flashbacks space. Flashbacks (Nightclub) was on the second floor of the old heritage building, and the existing BNA would expand into that space," he said.
"That expansion would primarily be for patrons, but as well for a bowling area as well as a bocce lane. So the proposed second floor capacity would exapnd to 243 people, and that would put the overall facility at approximately 415 people."
Along with the bowling and bocce the renovations will increase the building's capacity from 278 people to 415.
Barton says the bar has also agreed to have heightened security measures in place when things get busy.
"The applicant has agreed to install several safety and security measures, which both staff and the RCMP felt were important considerations - both to support the standard in the local downtown, but also to support cooperation and sharing amongst all the Liquor Primary establishments in the downtown," he said.
"It meets council policy in terms of providing liquor establishments together with other alternative entertainment options."
