Boat owners on Okanagan Lake seem to be getting the message when it comes to boat safety.
The RCMP vessel was out on the weekend and found the majority of boaters had the required number of life jackets on board and the proper safety equipment with them.
But, officers did encounter boat operators who didn't have a valid 'pleasure craft operators card' with them or couldn't provide the documents to prove licensing and ownership of the vessel.
Failing to do so can result in the operator being ticketed.
The RCMP also found several noisy vessels on the water with loud exhausts that were being operated without a muffler in good working order.
