If you've seen coyotes creeping into your backyard, don't be alarmed.
North Okanagan Conservation Officer Ken Owens says it's actually quite normal. "We have a good habitat, a good natural habitat for coyotes. Kelowna is one of the cities that we co-exist with coyotes. So, it's actually a fairly common occurance to sight a coyote within city limits."
Owens does say, however, it's important to bring your pets in at night and secure chicken coops as coyotes are still looking for food.
He added that it is an offence to feed wild animals as they can become too comfortable with people.
