Donald Brodie was sentenced to nine years in prison today for running down a paper carrier while fleeing police, December of 2013. Brodie has 43 convictions in the past 18 years, and was on probation when he blew through the police checkstop on Springfield road. The paper carrier suffered a traumatic brain injury and now lives in a senior care facility at the age of 45.

Mr. Brodie was sentenced to 5 years for criminal negligence causing bodily harm and 9 years in prison for flight from police following an offence causing bodily harm. The sentences are to be served concurrently. After receiving credit for time spent awaiting trial in custody Mr. Brodie was given a sentence of 8 years and nine months. He was ordered to provide a DNA sample for the national databank and was prohibited from driving for 10 years from the date of his release. He has also been prohibited from possessing firearms for life.
