If you're currently commuting between Penticton and Kelowna for any reason, your worries may soon be over.
On September 3rd, B.C. Transit is introducing Route 70, a bus service that will save you money and time spent in traffic.
Chris Fudge, Senior Manager of Government Relations detailed a one way trip will cost $5.00 and monthly passes are available.
“Service will be offering two round trips at commuter times every weekday, as well as two midday round trips on Mondays to allow for connections to some of the south Okanagan-Similkameen region systems.”
The route will include limited stops in Summerland, West Kelowna and the Queensway Exchange.
“Obviously this is the first phase of this service that we`re introducing, so there’s always the possibility of future stops down the road. However, in the meantime there are limited stops just for the introduction of the service,” said Fudge.
The initiative was identified as a priority for the Regional District Okanagan-Similkameen in their 25 year Transit Future Plan.
“Obviously we do feel there is demand from residents in that region to connect to Kelowna for things like medical appointments, recreation, shopping and social travel. So, we certainly do expect that there is demand for this service.”
They are welcoming feedback from customers once the service has started, to help shape and improve future changes to the service.
