Last summer, Todd's RV in Peachland lost close to 30 percent of its business when Okanagan Lake spilled it banks and flooded a good portion of its property.
This summer, Mother Nature has handed them yet another blow.
Owner Graham Todd says outdated media reports, showing the height of last week’s forest fires, are keeping Alberta tire traffic away:
"We have talked a lot of people into not giving up their holidays. You have been working all year for that and it's perfect here. Those first two days of the fire we had a bit of smoke in Peachland but it wasn't unbearable. Since then it's been great".
Todd is busy fielding phone calls telling would be travelers that the Okanagan is indeed safe.
"We should be plugged full right now and we running about 8 to 10 percent less. The amount of calls we are fielding is just crazy asking if the smoke has cleared."
The only silver lining is Todd's RV has been able to pick up lost business when the provincial campground along Highway 97 between Peachland and Summerland was forced to close when the forest fire came dangerously close to the roadway.
