Plans to transform a car dealership into a fresh food market could take a step forward on Monday.
City staffers are recommending Kelowna Council given permission to change the usage of Turner Volkswagon, from automotive to mixed-use commercial.
Al Stober Construction is already working to convert the building, and businesses could start to open as early as January 2019. “At this point there’s 4 new restaurants and the Okanagan Food Hub Co-op, a farmers-owned grocery store,” says Marketing Agent, Dallas Gray. “There’s technically 7 spaces we’ve designed the building for. They’re taking the largest one so it’s going to be about a 4000 square foot grocery store. It’ll be like shopping the farmer’s market, 7 days a week.”
