Central Okanagan bus drivers and support staff have voted in favour of a new 3 year contract with FirstCanada, the company that operates the busses here.
72 percent of theĀ membership said yes.
Union President Scott Lovell says drivers are still substantially below other BC communities like Victoria, still the wage increase, depending on job category, is about 9 percent over three years.
He says, this contract is about working with transit to improve stability and open the door to improving the carbon footprint in our region.
In a written statement to AM 1150 News, Lovell adds this new deal will help transit grow.
The issues of security and safety for drivers were not addressed in the contract.
