Christy Clark has wrapped up two days of campaigning in the Okanagan and her own riding of Kelowna West.
Before leaving for an event in Vancouver on Wednesday, the Liberal leader stopped by Grey Monk Winery in Lake Country, where she touted her party's record on supporting the wine industry and committed to do more, if re-elected.
“We are going to step up our efforts to market B.C. wine, B.C. craft beer, B.C. cider and B.C. distilled products all around the world,” Clark said “We’re going to invest in targeted campaigns and new apps to continue the growth of this sector, continue to grow markets for this sector and create more jobs for people here at home.”
Clark said she wasn’t worried about the U.S. government’s complaint to the World Trade Organization over the province’s policy to allow the sale of only B.C. wine in grocery stores, saying she’s confident it doesn’t break trade laws.
“I say to Donald Trump, bring it on."
When asked by reporters what she believed to be the main issue for people in her riding, she said transportation and traffic.
“There’s a lot of different issues, people are concerned about health care as they are everywhere, people are concerned about education as they are everywhere, as they should be, people are concerned about affordability,” Clark said “but the I think the thing that I hear the most in West Kelowna is transportation, transportation, transportation.”
Clark would not confirm or deny whether the Liberals would pursue a toll for the potential second Okanagan Lake bridge, saying the study into the crossing is still ongoing.
