The City of Penticton set up an Emergency Operation Centre in response to the Christie Mountain Wildfire on Tuesday evening.
An evacuation alert also went out to more than 36 hundred homes.
Donny van Dyk is Penticton City Manager.
"We remain at alert," Dyk explains. "We are currently evacuation planning should the alert become an order. That involves everything from route planning to ensuring transportation logisitcs, appropriate reception centre and housing."
Staff were also making sure that critical infrasture was protected.
