Kelowna council and Okanagan College are making their relationship official.
This week, the city and the college signed a Memorandum of Understanding, to signify the partnership between the two parties.
Community Planning Manager Doug Gilchrist says the document highlights key priorities.
"The MOU itself focuses on shared commitment, but also identifies five areas where we feel there's opportunity for additional collaboration," he said.
"These (are): Applied research, learning and innovation. Land use, infrastructure, and campus planning. Community involvement and volunteerism. Operational matters, and sustainable practices.")
Meanwhile, the College's president says the city is one of the school's most valuable partners.
Jim Hamilton says in the past, city staff have put in hard work on the college's behalf.
"I don't know how much council knows, but your staff was very instrumental in assisting us in the building of the new trades training centre, dealing with traffic issues," he said.
"And most recently, helping us with the construction of na’ʔk’ʷulamən garden, which will be opening officially next week."
The city says the agreement is non-binding, and has no end date attached to it.
The terms will be reviewed by both parties every five years.
