On-street parking will be free to the public in downtown Kelowna every Saturday during the month of December.
City Council voted unanimously to keep the 23-year tradition going, in order to encourage shoppers to flock downtown and support local businesses during the holiday season.
It's estimated to have a financial impact of just over $29,000, since average daily parking revenues for downtown Kelowna are around $5,800 dollars.
Off-street parking, which includes parkades and other parking lots, is free year-round on Saturdays.
The Downtown Kelowna Association says Christmas time is the second busiest time of the year for the downtown area in terms of foot traffic, right behind summertime.
