All that snow that has accumulated over the past few weeks is slowly disappearing.
The plus temperatures and rain is melting it away, causing concern for flooding and landslides.
Utilities Network Maintenance Supervisor for Kelowna, Mike Murrell, doesn't expect the flooding will be significant, but says steps have been taken to mitigate the chance of it happening.
“We’ve started to clear some of the catch basins in areas where there is more pedestrian traffic,” he says “so the downtown core, the hospital, schools and areas where with any melt and rain fall we’re going to start having puddles and ponding obstructing crosswalks”
Murrell says homeowners should also make sure catch basins near their home are clear.
The forecast high in Kelowna for the next several days ranges from 3-5 degrees.
If you see any significant puddles across sidewalks or roads, you're asked to report it to the city.
