The three most recent confirmed COVID-19 cases at the West Kelowna nursery bring the total of positive cases to 23.
These were confirmed by the laboratory and reported in the daily provincial health officer’s briefing on April 14.
The report on April 15 reflected a discrepancy in numbers provided to the PHO.
These cases are considered, from a public health perspective, as part of the original outbreak first declared on March 28.
That outbreak would be considered over when the MHO is satisfied that there is no longer transmission, typically after two full incubation periods since the last case.
Interior Health's priority with clusters like this is to prevent spread among workers and broadly in the community.
As we have had no cases in community related to this situation beyond the impacted workers, we are confident that we are containing this outbreak.
