Governments across the country are between a rock and a hard place. They acknowledge climate change and the need to reduce our carbon footprint, but the carbon tax is becoming increasingly unpopular with voters.
Aaron Wudrick is National Director of the Canadian Taxpayers Federation. He told AM 1150's Early Edition that climate change will require sacrifice.
"The reality is a lot of people want it both ways. They want action on climate but they don't want to pay for it themselves."
Wudrick adds, "If you want to get serious, it's going to cost individual Canadians thousands of dollars and I think this is the challenge we face. People say they want action but when presented with the bill, a lot of people's enthusiasm starts to evaporate."
Wudrick says climate change is a global problem and Canada can't solve it alone.
The Canadian Taxpayers Federation opposes the carbon tax and will continue to do so as more court challenges emerge.
