There are several opportunities for residents to share their comments on the fiscal priorities outlined in the budget.
Unlike municipalities, the regional district does not have one tax rate. The RDCO has more than 80 individual services provided and paid for by different combinations of taxpayers across the Central Okanagan. Each service budget is separate and all assets, revenues, expenses, reserves, surpluses or deficits remain within the service.
The Regional Board determines how local services will be financed and has outlined its Strategic Priorities, providing staff direction on implementing this vision. Focus areas for the Board include:
Transportation and Mobility
Sustainable Communities
Economic Development
Environment
Residents are invited to attend these public budget meetings at 8:30 am on Thursday, February 20 and Thursday, March 12 in the Woodhaven Boardroom at the RDCO office, 1450 KLO Road in Kelowna. Staff presentations will be made and there will be opportunities during each meeting for residents to comment.
For those unable to attend, Financial Plan information will be available and feedback may be provided on the RDCO website.
The Regional Board will give final consideration and adopt the 2020 – 2024 Financial Plan at its public meeting Monday, March 23 at 7:00 pm.
