112 volunteers from six companies will be lending a hand for the Central-South Okanagan United Way’s annual Day of Caring, which actually takes place on two days: May 4th and 6th.
During the two days, the volunteers will be putting in a total of 336 hours working on 19 projects.
These projects include cleaning up playgrounds, painting murals, and doing yard work in the area.
The work being done will save non-profit organizations approximately $5,000 in staffing costs.
“It’s just a really good way of getting employees engaged in the community,” says Central-South Okanagan United Way Director Helen Jackson. “It’s also a great opportunity for teams to go out and actually spend a bit of time not just sitting at their desks and looking at their computers.”
Pushor Mitchell Lawyers is sponsoring the event, and will be closing down its office to send 92 of its employees to help out.
