The Central Okanagan Salvation Army did not make their target in the Christmas Kettle campaign. They came up short by about 100 thousand dollars.
Captain Daryl Burry says the challenge now is to provide the same level of service to the community with less money and resources. A total for on line donations won't be known until end of January. That information is processed in Toronto. Regardless, the Salvation Army remains true to their mission of providing support to the most vulnerable in the community.
The Salvation Army is planning a special 2019-only fund raiser to begin in March. They'd like to pay off the mortage on their Rutland church. That would free up more than 150 thousand dollars a year for community projects.
