Okanagan-Similkameen-Nicola MP Dan Albas is hosting a couple of local town hall meetings this weekend.
Albas says he'll begin by updating constituents on his activities in Ottawa and the riding.
"But then we turn the mics over to the people and say tell us what you think are your priorities. Obviosuly, there's a budget that's going to coming out in the spring, so there'll be some talk about what's going to be in there. But there's also a large amount of issues that we have to deal with; everything from energy to health care, so there's no lack of things to discuss," says Albas.
Albas anticipates questions about ethics will also be raised in light of news about the Prime Minister's holiday in the Bahamas with the Aga Khan and cash-for-access fundraisers.
He also says these town hall meetings are a great opportunity to share information.
"Some of the best ideas, that we've taken to Ottawa, whether that be changes to interprovincial trade barriers - when it comes to the transit of wine - to gas tax, to dealing with invasive mussels in Okanagan lake, all those things have come from these local sessions where I hear from people directly," he says.
The first town hall is Saturday, January 14th at Westbank Lions Hall - and the second goes Sunday, January 15th at A.S Matheson Elementary School in Kelowna.
Both meetings start at 3:00 pm.
