Beginning Tuesday, July 4 between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. motorists can expect delays at the intersection of Collett Road and Lakeshore Road due to the construction of a roundabout to improve the safety and efficiency of the intersection for motorists, pedestrians and cyclists.
Two-way traffic will be maintained during construction hours, with single-lane alternating as required.
Due to traffic volumes, delays are expected.
Cyclists traveling southbound will be detoured around the project site near Keith Road via Cascia Drive. Cyclists traveling northbound will be detoured around the project site at Barnaby Road, east to Gordon Drive.
Local business access, transit and tourist routes will remain open and accessible.
The $800,000 improvements will also include a watermain replacement on Lakeshore Road and utility improvements at the intersection of Lakeshore and Collette roads.
Motorists must use caution while traveling through construction zones during the day and after hours. Please obey signs and traffic safety personnel as every effort will be made to minimize disruptions for motorists, residents and businesses.
The City of Kelowna and workers on site appreciate the patience of residents, businesses and motorists while road work is underway.
Completion is expected September 2017.
