West Kelowna city council has determined how it'll pay for its portion of the new Rose Valley Water Treatment Plant.
West Kelowna will fund its $12.5-million share of the construction costs through reserve funds and the short term borrowing of $1.6-million.
The majority of funding - $41 million - comes from the federal and provincial governments through the Clean Water and Wastewater Fund - this money was announced back on March 17th.
The Rose Valley Reservoir currently serves users of the Lakeview Water System, which recently went through a 14 week water quality advisory, after an unprecedented algae bloom.
The project will also connect the new plant to the Pritchard, Sunnyside and West Kelowna Estates water systems - and once completed, will bring clean water for 18,000 residents in West Kelowna.
With all the money now in place - the city says the treatment plant can be constructed immediately instead of in 2022 - which was forecast in the City's capital plan.
