RCMP were called to Rutland this afternoon after a vehicle and bicycle collided, at the intersection of Highway 33 and Aurora Crescent.
A blue Toyota Rav4, was starting from a stopped position on Aurora Crescent, making a right hand turn into in the west bound lanes of Highway 33, when the collision occurred. "Our officers are investigating, in an effort to determine exactly what factors contributed to this unfortunate crash," states RCMP Cpl. Jesse O'Donaghey. "Given the information gathered at the scene, police suspect that the cyclist may have been riding on the sidewalk alongside the highway, in the opposite direction of the flow of traffic."
The driver, a 31-year-old Vernon woman, remained at the scene to provide info for investigators.
The cyclist, a 26-year-old Kelowna man was knocked unconscious in the crash and was transported to hospital, by BC Ambulance Service. RCMP don't have an update on his condition.
