Canada's dairy farmers are not happy with the new US - Canada - Mexico trade agreement. Our negotiators made concessions opening up Canadian markets to more American produced dairy products.
Henry Bremer of Enderby chairs the North Okanagan Dairy Farm Association. He says it's the third time in recent years where the government has given up market share to the US.
What this means is that once details of the new trade agreement are sorted out, we will see more American dairy products on our grocery shelves.
Bremer says the concessions will hurt his family and his business. Prices for Canadian dairy are generally down while costs continue to rise. In the words of Henry Bremer, "Canada's dairy farmers feel like it's death by a thousand cuts".
