Just hours after Interior Health announced its plans to apply for a mobile injection site for both Kelowna and Kamloops, the Downtown Kelowna Association realesed a statement supporting it.
President, Dan Allen says the health emergency is in every neighbourhood, not just downtown, and the mobile unit will reach more people and have a greater impact.
The association was adamantly against a fixed site on Leon Avenue, proposed last year.
Allen says Interior Health consulted them, and other stakeholders on its harm reduction strategy, and they will continue to remain involved.
