City staff are hosting a forum this week to hear opinions on downtown parking.
The Downtown Area Parking Plan is being updated, with similar plans for the South Pandosy and Hospital area already complete.
Parking Services Manager Dave Duncan says they've been tracking things like occupancy rates, parkade waiting lists, and other problem spots.
"We've started doing some data gathering, just to get an idea of any problem spots that we may need to look at. And then the main purpose of the open house will be to speak with residents, and businesses, and other stakeholders to identify any other areas that we may need to look at as part of this plan," he said.
He says there's a balance in planning for both now and the future.
"This is to look at the areas and figure out what we can do to help improve the situation, and identify areas where there are problems, and areas where no changes are needed," he said.
"Then, even planning for the future as well, to make sure that we're situated to be able to deal with any needs in the future, as we continue to grow and develop and densify."
An online survey will also be launched on the city's website this month.
Duncan also says with the fully re-developed library and memorial parkades opening up, things have gone well there.
"We haven't experienced a time when they've both been full," he said.
"It's dealt with the demand, especially in the evening hours - we've got more event capacity now, and it's definitely been positive."
The update to the plan will be the first one in more than seven years.
The public forum is Tuesday afternoon between 4 and 6:30 at the Laurel Packinghouse.
