A Vancouver man accused of selling drugs in the Okanagan has been found guilty on three charges of drug trafficking.
Behrang Khosravi was arrested in a West Kelowna hotel room in July of 2016 following a three-week police investigation, during which surveillance showed Khosravi allegedly taking part in numerous drug deals from inside his vehicle.
During the arrest, police found cocaine, heroin, meth, and fentanyl inside the hotel room, all packaged for trafficking.
At the start of his trial last month, Khosravi claimed that police had no right to arrest him without a warrant. He also said that they should not have performed a strip search on him.
This led to a week-long voir dire, also known as a “trial within a trial,” to determine if Khosravi’s charter rights were indeed violated. Ultimately, Judge Allan Betton stated that there was enough evidence to justify both the arrest and strip search.
Following Judge Betton’s verdict on Friday morning, Khosravi’s next court appearance was set for Monday, May 28th, in order to fix a sentencing date.
