A 49-year-old Calgary man was arrested in Kelowna last night on charges of drunk driving.
Shortly before 9 PM, police were called to the intersection of Harvey Avenue and Cooper Road, where a collision between a brown Chevrolet Blazer and a green Toyota Sienna had taken place, leaving both vehicles badly damaged and needing to be towed.
"During their interaction with the driver of the Chevrolet Blazer at the scene, our investigators reportedly detected strong signs and symptoms, which led them to believe that his ability to safely operate his motor vehicle was impacted by alcohol," says RCMP Corporal Jesse O'Donaghey. "That driver was taken into police custody, provided with a demand and transported to the Kelowna RCMP Detachment, where he provided samples of his breath determined to be in excess of the legal limit."
He was later released and given a driving ban. He’ll appear in a Kelowna courtroom at a later date.
