A driver caught speeding in Kelowna while eating a bowl of spinach with chopsticks has received the maximum fine of two-thousand dollars.
Provincial Court Justice Brian Burgess declined to reduce the fine in a ruling last month after Corinne Jackson was found guilty of driving with undue care and attention.
An RCMP officer spotted her travelling at 60 kilometres per hour while "shovelling'' food into her mouth without once placing a hand on the wheel during the entire five to six seconds he watched.
Jackson argued she had three fingers on the wheel and was only going 10 kilometres above the speed limit but Burgess said she was still speeding and at minimum a driver should have at least one full hand on the wheel when a vehicle is in motion.
